Pictou County District RCMP seized a firearm and charged a man following a weapons incident near Elmfield.
On October 29th, at approximately 3:50 pm, officers responded to a report of a man pointing a firearm at another person on Porter Road. Officers learned that during an argument about suspected property crime between two people on the side of the road, the man had pulled a shotgun out of his truck and pointed it at the other person. While officers were on their way to the area, the man fled into a forested area with the firearm. There were no reports of shots fired.
Pictou County District RCMP general duty officers, the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and a remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) operator attended.
Officers had been conducting patrols and located the man on Macbeth Road and was safely arrested. During a follow-up search of the area on foot, investigators located and seized the firearm concealed underwater in a creek.
